Encaustic Painting

Out of all the processes I have learned and practice, this is by far the most satisfying to me. The molten wax glides on, allowing me to build up layers of color, texture and images, hiding– revealing, losing–reclaiming....

Encaustic is one of the oldest and most archival painting mediums. Images are shielded from both air and uv rays; two of the greatest culprits for painting deterioration.

Resin is added allowing the wax to harden so it is no more vulnerable to heat than any other normal oil painting. No online image is able to fully capture the beauty and mystery of an encaustic painting.
